Before I start off, I would like to thank god, for keeping daddy in the pink of health and keeping him away from harm always. Also, a big thank you to daddy’s dearest buddies and band mates, uncle lawrence, uncle colin and gang, thank you for coming all the way to join us as we celebrate his big 60.

What made great men? Was it having a killer right swing? Or having to sleep 27 years in a jail cell? Or do you have to be the finest investor, to be a great man?

No, my father didn’t fight like Mohammed Ali, nor did he join the brawl against aparteid like Mandela, or was he any good at investing, like warren (buff-it)buffett. Yet in so many ways, my father resembles these great people.

Daddy, for those of you who have not noticed yet, is a simple man.

I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, nor with a spoon for that matter, but my hardships are nothing against the hardships that my father went through in order to get me to where I started. He wasn’t as lucky as I am. He’s clothes were hand-downs, so were his shoes.ive got levi’s on me. He had to cycle from old klang road all the way to sungai way just to earn a living. I had a van pick me up from my doorstep to my school. He sometimes didn’t have food on his platter. I had sambal petai sotong yesterday. daddy studied till form 3, im doing my degree now. When I was in high school I remember mummy telling me daddy only ate digestives for lunch during work, just to save that extra money we could use for groceries. And here we are, complaining about the devil curry not salty enough, and why the ambiller not sour enough.

My father is 60. He now owns a house, and two cars. He’s sent my sister and I for a tertiary education and will do the same for my brother. He has three grandchildren who absolutely adore him, nephews and nieces who admire him, friends who highly regard him, and a wife who never left him. So how does a simple man, with not much of an education accomplish such greatness?

Daddy always told me to persevere, as did mohammed ali. Don’t quit son, suffer now and reap the fruits in the future. It’s ok son, part and parcel of life, suffer a bit more and you will live to be a champ, suffer abit more and you will live a better life than daddy. His word stung like bees. My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could ever give me, he believed in me.

He always reminded me to be humble. Remember your roots son. Respect your lecturers’ son. Kiss their feet if that is what it takes. I hate my lecturers. I shout back and point ugly gestures at them when they’re not looking.

Daddy was thrifty. He’d only spend on things that were necessary. He believed in buying things that were of more value than its price. In other words, second hand items. He never wastes, food especially. He was the bandaraya of the house.

Daddy taught me to practice patience. As the great warren buffett said “no matter how great the talent or effort, some things just take time.” Daddy said “son, she is your mother.”

When it came to women, daddy told me “son, when it comes to choosing your other half, make sure she is the one you want to wake up to every morning.” He also said “whenever you get into a fight with a woman, don’t bother fighting back. They always win. God created the world and it was perfect. Why you think god created eve last? Because he didn’t want advice while making it.”

Not just his words made me who I am, but he taught me through example. He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.

Dad, your sixty already. And I just turned 21. I don’t have a degree yet, nor do I have a job. I can’t buy you things, or send you and mum places. I can’t drive you around cuz mummy keeps yelling at the back seat. But this I promise you dad, I will accomplish greatness. I will educate my children the way you have, I will guard my siblings the way you have, and I will love my wife as you have.

Dad, you're someone to look up to no matter how tall I've grown, your guiding hand on my shoulder will remain with me forever.

Ladies and gentlemen, my father may not be remembered as a great man in history books and magazines, but he is, unquestionably the greatest father a man could ever ask for. Even a fool can be a father. But it takes a great man to be my dad.

Pagi itu pagi minggu. Cuaca cukup sejuk sehingga mencapai takat suhu beku. Sebab itu saya tidak mandi pagi sebab air kolah jadi air batu dan air paip tidak mahu keluar sebab beku di dalam batang paip. Pagi itu saya bersarapan dengan keluarga di dalam unggun api kerana tidak tahan sejuk. Selepas itu emak saya mengajak saya menemaninya ke pasar. Tetapi saya tidak mahu.

Selepas emak menikam perut saya berkali-kali dengan garfu barulah saya bersetuju untuk mengikutnya. Kami berjalan sejauh 120 kilometer kerana pasar itu letaknya 128 kilometer dari rumah. Lagi 8 kilometer nak sampai pasar saya ternampak sebuah lori kontena meluru dengan laju dari arah belakang.

Dia melanggar emak saya. Emak saya tercampak ke dalam gaung. Dia menjerit "Adoi!". Lepas itu emak saya naik semula dan mengejar lori tersebut. Saya pun turut berlari di belakang emak saya kerana takut emak saya melanggar lori itu pula. Pemandu lori itu nampak kami mengejarnya. Dia pun memecut lebih laju iaitu sama dengan kelajuan cahaya. Kami pula terpaksa mengejar dengan lebih laju iaitu sama dengan dua kali ganda kelajuan cahaya. Emak saya dapat menerajang tayar depan lori itu. Lori itu terbabas dan melanggar pembahagi jalan lalu bertembung dengan sebuah feri. Feri itu terbelah dua.

Penumpang feri itu yang seramai 100 orang semuanya mati. Pemandu feri itu sangat marah. Dia pun bertukar menjadi Ultraman dan memfire pemandu lori. Pemandu lori menekan butang khas di dalam lori dia..lori itu bertukar menjadi robot Transformer. Mereka bergaduh di udara. Emak saya tidak puas hati. Dia pun terus menyewa sebuah helikopter di Genting
Highlands dan terus ke tempat kemalangan. Dia melanggar pemandu feri yang telah bertukar menjadi Ultraman itu.

Pemandu feri itu terkejut dan terus bertukar menjadi pemandu feri semula lalu terhempas ke jalanraya. Pemandu feri itu pecah. Pemandu lori sangat takut melihat kejadian itu. Dia meminta maaf dari emak saya. Dia menghulurkan tangan ingin bersalam. Tetapi emak saya masih marah. Dia menyendengkan helikopternya dan mengerat tangan pemandu lori itu dengan kipas helikopter. Pemandu lori itu menjerit "Adoi..!" dan jatuh ke bumi. Emak say menghantar helikopter itu ke Genting Highlands. Bila dia balik ke tempat kejadian, dia terus memukul pemandu lori itu dengan beg tangannya sambil memarahi pemandu lori itu di dalam bahasa Inggeris.

Pemandu lori itu tidak dapat menjawab sebab emak saya cakap orang putih. Lalu pemandu lori itu mati. Tidak lama kemudian kereta polis pun sampai. Dia membuat lapuran ke ibu pejabatnya tentang kemalangan ngeri itu. Semua anggota polis di pejabat polis itu terperanjat lalu mati. Orang ramai mengerumuni tempat kejadian kerana ingin mengetahui apa yang telah terjadi. Polis yang bertugas cuba menyuraikan orang ramai lalu dia menjerit menggunakan pembesar suara. Orang ramai terperanjat dan semuanya mati.

Selepas itu emak saya mengajak saya ke pasar untuk mengelak lebih ramai lagi yang akan mati. Di pasar, emak saya menceritakan kejadian itu kepada penjual daging. Penjual daging dan peniaga-peniaga berhampiran yang mendengar cerita itu semuanya terkejut dan mati. Saya dan emak saya terus berlari balik ke rumah. Kerana terlalu penat sebaik saja sampai di rumah kami pun mati. Itulah kemalangan yang paling ngeri yang pernah saya lihat sebelum saya mati.

my dearest friend kit yuan and young yee chien came down to malacca last weekend (18th)

was just another hectic day. university this, university that. first was the 20 page marketing report, then had an exam the following day. and on friday, had a presentation on my business plan and a debate on marriage and cohabitation. was proposition for cohabitation. 1 word, whoop-ass.
so the the presentation went well and the debate kicked ass, and my homies from the hood were already in malacca. hence starts my awesome weekend (=

they reached around 6pm i think..all i remembered was being half an hour late. sorry guys, had issues with the car..kof..gear box problem..

brought them back to my place before finding them a place to crash. kit yuan didnt want to crash at my place cause we had no air-con. hah. we hit jongker's first.took them to the
laksa/cendol-best-giler-babi shop..still dont understand why we didnt take shots in jongkers..hmm, everybody was well overwhelmed i guess. oh we managed to settle the "gear-box" problem thanks to martin. yea, he drove us everywhere. so thanks bradah. then we hit ringos.
ringo's is this joint around jongker with alot of history to it. really chill-out place. 80's 90's live music, marilyn monroe pictures, elvis potraits. i love that place. they loved it.

i realised how low my confidense has gone,
after my fierce battle with love.
just this morning in the LRT, i was checking out this babe.
we made glorious eye contact, but i looked away.
then it hit me.
damn those ugly eyes..

things got better in the bus.
this nicely aged 30 year old hellofa darling german sweetheart sat beside me.
ok i lied. i sat beside her.
we had like this crazy 2 hour chat. apparently she thinks malaysians are nice people.

she was teling me about the october beer fest in munich and her tour around the globe.
amsterdam, barcelona, to the heat in bali, parties in koh samui and our very own pride island, pulau perhentian. weird how much she loves malaysia.

she taught me a thing or two about the german language called german.
i started with the classic ich liebe dich (i love you) and she burst out laughing.
"POAST" is german means cheers, and "jus" means bye.
ich heizer ivan means my name is ivan. she said i pronounce german really well. "yea yea, very good very good."
i was thinking "yea wait till you kiss me." haaaaa...
but the best part was when she said beer in german was, none other than BIER. yea.
her name was Heidi bloshkoskbcosh tongue twister twister something.
and she worked as a middle mum. you know the nurse that aids women who are giving birth?
yea. god her backpack was huge. and she had nicely tanned skin and crystal grey eyes.CRYSTAL. like she could see right through my soul or something. on top of that, she had the prettiest smile in this gadamn world. memang terbaik-nye smile.

then she was telling me about the famous octoberfest.

octoberfest is a sixteen day festival held each year in munich. it is one of the most famous events in the world with some 6million people attending every year.

she was telling me about the famous speed limitless highway in deutschland. i had to ask her what was the fastest car shes ever driven, knowing it's germany and how great they were at making cars and forth. she answered a humble audi. okhay. so how fast did you go?

berry shisha weekend

the weekend was productive. i think.
had classes till 530 on friday. bought my bus ticket to kl around 430.yea, very last minute.
my sister's way of throwing a surprise party, even the guest gets a piece of the surprise.
bus was at 630. while walking back to my apartment, wahlau eh, clouds so dark looked almost like reens!!(a very dark person who happens to be my bestfriend)
and i was suppose to go to melaka sentral by bike!!
nasib qimy gave me a ride. thank god. and qimy.
reached kl, bought mummy a buquet of flowers and met up with kit yuan at the LRT station and headed for bangsar. was a decent surprise. mummy was speechless. apparently she was complaining why i didnt give her a phone call.haha. "heres your flowers ma. whats for dinner?"

i love you ma. happay 54th birthday. and yalah yalah, you look like 28.

met up with kit yuan again on saturday and as pre-planned, wanted to watch movie (fast and furious) with style (THX) but obviously gsc was out of tickets.
so we left, with style.
droped by a closed addidas factory store, just managed to catch a glimpse of the next shoe im gonna buy. so.bloody.tempting. gaah.

we fetched chien up, then the lost absent jiun wen and headed to nirvana's.
there i kena-ed yela sapade (banana leaf) and mutton masala.pehh..sedap sial..
and then came the best part. we made fun of the way yee chien walks. HAH.

kit yuan and myself then headed to tanjung (our meetup point/base/hq) after dropping of chien who ffk us to join this guy(wooooo..), from kl (wooooo..), who has a thing for her. what a loser.

waaaa, ordered my shisha and watched the first half of the liverpool-fulham game on a tv size of something from the stone age. and with massive entertaining, annoying and distracting house music for the background. kudus to the collection though. had abit of paul van dyck.
which reminded me of jamiroquoi which i obviously am not going cuz i have to leave for melaka tomo-godamn-row.
left the damn place.to a mamak near my area which was much more tranqual, peaceful and quiet. which also had tv's size of my palm, except they had like 10 of them.
watched liverpool play the rather dissapointing second half, but with a late winner; yossi benayoun's brilliant ninety second minute strike, my last jigsaw for the weekend was positioned, neatly into place.

ive decided to take a break from it.
from them magical sticks that abra cadabras off them excessive worries .
sudden decision. wanna see how long i can resist. put my will power to the test.

i woke up today to a mr.brightside alarm, feeling like a feather.
had one conversation in campus and bam, the weight of the world was on my shoulders. again.
asignments after asignments, midterms and such, all begun to pill up. just one conversation.
realized how behind i was with my academic. gesus christ.
due dates seem closer than ever, nak muntah darah sial.. they say i panic when the situation gets tough. i say i get this drive, this seriousness to just close the deal. like fire. so cool.

was watching tv and they were talking bout this dude who was the 9th riches man in europe at the age of 24. apparently he started a company that distributes games. how do they come out with these ideas man? he had a company when he was 21. im twenty and im flat broke.
that dude borrowed 2500 sterling pounds from prince charles and started his shit.

why do i bother a blog?

dont ask me. guess i pretty much wanted a medium where i could record down times, important times, or times that made an impact on my dear soul, and read them in 30 years time or so and feel stupid about it when my wife and children reads it.
or be amazed by how far i'ved come. yea. be amazed. wohoo.

so basicly the whole idea of this blog, functions as a time capsule, like in the movie KNOWING.
where nicholas cage finds some hidden code bout the end of the world in a fifty year long time-capsule, and tries to save them people that mattered. yea, sure.
or maybe, the real reason behind this, was me finding a space, a blanck canvas, where i could paint my emotions and rage and opinions on, without having to know needless, pointless words of others. who knows?
well GUESS WHAT, im afraid that if i told you, i'd have to kill you.cliche.
(this is where i burst out laughing when i read this at the age of 50.)

this point on, i think i can/will be labelled as one of them pretty vacant souls, bloggers.
